BESPOKE ART AND CREATIVE COLLABORATIONS

Rooted in an exploration of materials, texture, colour and our connection to the natural world, my practice brings together etching, printmaking and heritage craft techniques into the contemporary world. In the studio, my work ranges from tactile, one-off artworks to bespoke designs developed for specific settings, with a focus on the beauty of materials, the richness of surface and the enduring value of traditional making processes.

I create distinctive, handmade artworks for individual interiors, working with interior designers, art consultants, architects and private clients to develop pieces that respond to a particular space. Most of my works are adaptable and scalable so we can find the perfect fit for your project with an average lead time of 12 weeks (dependent on the scale of the project and other ongoing projects). Listed below are the series that are most flexible for commissions, but please let me know if you are interested in exploring a different bespoke type of work from my portfolio.

THE POLYCHROMATIC SERIES

Sculptural composite collages inspired by the shifting light and gradations of the skies and water. Hand made with formed triangular pieces created from bespoke printed etchings and marbled papers which can be created specifically for your project. These works are best displayed with a directional light to show their full potential and must be transported framed due to their delicate nature. The maximum standard framing size is 90 x 120cm but works can be created across a number of frames in a triptych or more for larger spaces if required.

THE ELEMENTS SERIES

Inspired by the idea that the five Platonic solids are each connected to one of the five elements; earth, air, fire, water and aether. The Elements Series feature organised rows of these regular forms created in tonal variations of hand-pulled etching prints and marbled papers. These are then box framed in 8cm depth frames with art glass for protection. A square format of 80cm x 80cm or smaller works particularly well as it allows for 25 shapes (5 of each of the Platonic solids) but multiple framed works can also be created to work together or we could also discuss bespoke display cases for larger format pieces.

THE FRAGMENTED SERIES

The Fragmented Series explores the relationship between geometry, texture and the beauty of imperfect forms. Created on circular wooden panels, each piece brings together carefully composed collages, etched map-like imagery and marbled paper with subtle metal leaf details adding light and contrast. Each work is individually composed allowing the textures tones and intricate details to interact. The result is a collection of mixed-media pieces that sit between abstraction and the natural world.

Pieces from the Fragmented Series can be commissioned to suit a particular space or colour palette with the papers printed and made bespoke for your project. Each commission is developed as an individual unique artwork and can be displayed individually or as a collection. Panels and frames are available up to 110cm diameter.

IMPRESSIONS IN RELIEF

Print-informed porcelain sculpture, made to commission. These sculptural works combine printmaking and ceramics, using deeply etched copper plates to impress images into paper porcelain. Each piece is developed with hand-drawn details that create intricate, map-like surfaces. Works can be made in groups as wall based ceramic installations or small freestanding sculptures with a choice of glazed or unglazed finishes and optional metal leaf details. Each commission is made to order with the scale, form and finish tailored to the space and brief. Site specific wall installations can be designed collaboratively with mapping for install as well as options for on-site installation support if required. The fittings for wall based pieces are adaptable and can be invisible (allowing the works to just float away from the wall) or visible and part of the aesthetic.

BEYOND THE FRAME

As well as bespoke hand-made commissioned works, I’m also interested in exploring how my pieces might extend beyond the traditional framed artwork into interiors and architecture – through ceramic surfaces, large scale wall pieces and sculptural forms. These projects explore how the character and intricacy of traditional making can be translated into new contexts, materials and scales. Having collaborated here with an architect to translate my printed designs onto ceramic tiles, I’m keen to develop further opportunities to bring artwork into the built environment.

EXPLORING NEW POSSIBILITIES

The following visualisations explore how my handmade prints and etched surfaces might be translated into larger-scale architectural and sculptural forms. I welcome conversations with architects and designers interested in developing ideas collaboratively, from initial concept through to material and application.
